What did you learn overall during your internship experience?
I got exposed to the Payments Industry. The fact that I was not very familiar with the industry made me look and question different aspects of the payment process. My project was about creating a Training Video for Sales Enablement. I had to do research and familiarize myself with all aspects of Payscout and payments, this really helped me assimilate within the company very quickly.
What did you discover about yourself as a professional from this internship?
I discovered there is always room for growth. Every time you get into a new industry, new job or adventure, you are starting all over again. Learning does not stop in college. There is always something new to learn, so I have to actively keep my mind open and receptive to learning.
In your own words, describe Payscout’s culture?
Payscout’s culture is amazing. You are able to work as an entrepreneur. This type of culture cultivates business leaders and is conducive to individuals who are creative and innovative. So, if that is how you operate, then Payscout can be the place for you to grow.
Why did you pick Payscout for your internship?
From the moment I walked in, I felt very welcomed. I realized everyone is genuine and authentic during the interview conversions I had with the different leaders. My main goal was to learn. It was important to choose a company that was welcoming and authentic. To me, that meant the work culture was nurturing for learning.
What was the most challenging part of your internship – and how did you overcome it?
The most challenging part was learning about the payments industry. As time went by, I realized the best way to learn is to create a framework and a plan for yourself, your assignments and goals. Once a framework is created, projects don’t seem as complicated anymore. In my mind, I already solved the assignment.
What was your favorite part of being an intern at Payscout?
I liked my assignment. It was an inter-departmental assignment so I was able to interview and talk to all the leaders at Payscout. This helped me gain insight into various departments in the company.
What are you most excited about in working full-time with Payscout?
We spend most of our adult life at work, so I appreciate working at a place where having fun is encouraged through our weekly and monthly social events. Ideally, for me, the company I work for should feel like my second home.
